TL;DR
This one’s short anyway, okay? Plus, there’s a nifty poll for you to tell me what you want to see here.
I did something rash last week and regret it 0.5%:
Clicked “Pause Paid Subscriptions” on this newsletter. Even though the Substack gurus would tell me this was a terrible business decision. (Maybe they’re right but who cares.)
Here’s why:
Most of you came here for the free content anyway. No shame. I only pay for one subscription on here myself. And guess what? I hardly ever use the paid perks.
This change is also more practical for myself. Coming up with perks and special content for the slim number of paid subscribers was a suck on my time that I didn’t feel like was really adding much value for them either. Just being real.
You’re all smart. If you really want to hire me for something, you know how to find me. You don’t need me here hawking a paid subscription to do that.
And if money was my main motivator here, then I’d start writing posts about how to make money on Substack. Because that’s generally what works.
Maybe I’ll change my mind one day. Maybe I’ll come up with something that makes the paid version worth it. (But that’s not today.)
So until that day comes, let free-dom ring.
But on that note, I do need your help… I need to know what you want to see more of here. So here’s that fantabulous poll I promised:
Speaking of free, I created a free cheat sheet that teaches you what all the biggest business bestsellers have in common so you can steal their methods:
