REMINDER
Meant to send out a reminder yesterday about it being the last day you can submit a screenshot to enter the Amazon Fire giveaway for signing up with Acorns. But then I got sick, womp womp.
So I’m extending it for a day. If you signed up and made your first deposit, please send the screenshot to wordrobemedia@gmail.com.
(Paid subscribers, you get an automatic entry because you’re extra amazing.)
Look, I know we’re all supposed to hate Amazon these days, and I should probably be boycotting them or something. But I’ve never claimed to be perfect.
So here’s the deal:
I have a brand new Amazon Fire HD 10 to give away to one of you amazing subscribers. Because it’s something I’ve been meaning to do all year.
(Necessary caveats: family not eligible, clients not eligible, and must live in the US. Sorry, international peeps.)
Also, I’m a big fan of Acorns.
(And no, I’m not sponsored by them at all—I just really like ‘em—but if anyone from Acorns is reading, let’s talk.)
Because I’ve always sucked at saving and investing, I’ve been using Acorns for nearly five years to automate my savings/investing, including accounts for both my kids. While it’s not my only investment tool, it’s the easiest.
So here’s how you enter the giveaway:
Go to Acorns and set up your Invest account by 5/4/25.
Make your first investment of at least $5 by 5/18/25.
Screenshot the confirmation and email me so I can add you to the giveaway.
I’ll contact and announce the winner the week of May 19th.
Even if you don’t win, you’ll receive $5 from Acorns after 30 days, just for signing up and making your first investment.
And yeah, that’s it.
And if you’re wondering what this has to do with storytelling, I’ll tell you:
If everything is storytelling, so is investing. In 2016, I lost nearly everything. By 2019, I finally accepted that I truly can’t count on myself to save and invest. I wanted to rewrite my financial story and build a better future for my family—but I knew I couldn’t do it alone. Acorns was an easy way to start that process, and I haven’t looked back.
Okay, with that outta the way, here are this week’s content ideas.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned from a financial strain?
Who is your “investment idol” you follow?
How old were you when you started saving?
What’s your favorite investment tool/method—and why?
How are you rewriting your financial story today?
And if you’re a paid subscriber, I don’t have extra content ideas this week, but you’re going to get an automatic entry into the giveaway whether you sign up for Acorns or not because you’re amazing.
Until next time, keep changing the world—one story at a time.
