How to Escape the Hell of Writer's Block

Writer's block feels like Hell. 🔥 🔥 🔥

So here's some gospel news for ya: ⬇️

You can escape.

Here's the 5 strategies I personally use to keep out of Writer's Block:

1. Embrace cliché advice:

Stuff like "Write every day," "Read a lot," and "Make an outline" actually works.

(That's why they became clichés, ya know.)

2. Create an Idea Bank:

Make a file to save half-formed ideas. Digital is probably the best, though.

(They might save you later on. They’ve saved me MANY times.)

3. Pull the Ol' Switcheroo:

Work on more than one project at a time.

(You probably already are anyway, okay? Don’t let the anti-multitaskers make you feel guilty.)

So if you dry up on one … just switch to the other.

(Pretty much always gives me ideas for the first.)

4. Fake It 'Til You Make It:

You've got "Page Fright." That’s okay.

Remember: no one sees the first draft.

(God let you live in the age of the Word Processor for such a time as this.)

5. The Magical Ingredient:

You. You're the magical ingredient.

Stop comparing your writing to everyone else's.

(Embracing your own voice will take you further anyway.)

I'm working on a new book called Start With Story.

But I also wrote about all this in a short, 35-page tome called PurgaStory: 5 Strategies For Escaping the Hell of Writer's Block.
