Catchphrases don’t come out of thin air, though they seem like it.

Or if you prefer, they can be called a Branded Term or Brand Statement.

But when it comes to establishing your BRAND, marketing your BOOK or BUSINESS, they come in handy.

Either way, it's part of how you tell your Story. And it's something I do with many clients (in addition to coming up with my own).

STEP 1. OBSERVE

Start observing the PHRASES you use consistently or KEY IDEAS you use in your everyday work & life.

STEP 2. BRAINSTORM

Make a LIST of the observations you’ve made. TRACK the phrases you use the most, along with how people RESPOND. (Their response is KEY to the next step…)

STEP 3. ITERATE

Find the CLEAREST, most SUCCINCT way to express the phrase. Say it aloud, put it on paper, try it out with people. If it doesn’t work, ADJUST the wording and try again.

STEP 4. ONE (hold on, I’ll explain…)

Pick ONE winning catchphrase and implement it into your lexicon. In time, with consistent use of the phrase, you’ll become known as the ONE associated with the phrase.

REVIEW:

  • Observe

  • Brainstorm

  • Iterate

  • One

Or to make it easier to remember…OBI-1

Catchphrase: “May the Force be with you.”

Can’t wait to see and hear what you come up with!
